Hey folks! Tonight for tea I made this absolutely delicious ham hough & lentil soup :) This is such a popular soup in Scotland and I remember my mother and granny making this when I was wee. The ingredients are very simple but they produce an absolutely superb end result :) Everything I used will be listed below.

Serves 4-5 adults (depends on your portion size!)

1 Smoked ham hough - or ham bone
Enough boiling water to cover your ham bone
Oil or butter for frying your vegetables
1 Large onion - diced
3 Large carrots - Peeled & diced
1/2 Swede - peeled & diced
4 Medium potatoes - peeled & diced
200g (around 7 oz) Split red lentils
1 Vegetable stock cube & 1 Ham stock cube dissolved in 1 Pint (around 19 oz) of boiling water
Salt & ground white pepper to taste
Optional chopped parsley to serve
