Spectral Series & Atomic Transitions Explained | Success of Bohr Model

Описание к видео Spectral Series & Atomic Transitions Explained | Success of Bohr Model

Energy levels in an atom are quantized, and electrons can only exist in specific energy states. So, when electrons transition between these states, they emit or absorb energy in discrete amounts, leading to the observed discrete emission or absorption lines in the spectrum. In this video I discuss the spectral series of the Hydrogen Atom, namely Lyman, Balmer, Paschen, Brackett and Pfund Series, and how they arise as a result of discrete Atomic transitions.

Atomic transitions explain discrete emission spectra by connecting the quantized energy levels of electrons in an atom to the specific wavelengths of light emitted during transitions between these levels. Each spectral line corresponds to a specific energy transition, and the overall pattern of lines constitutes the unique fingerprint of an element's emission spectrum.
