This kid's X-ray result will shock you. 😳

This child was suffering from a persistent cough for many days.
The child has had this cough since birth. When I examined the baby, I noticed that the cough was different from a normal one.

The parents had tried many medications and nebulization for 6 to 7 months, but nothing seemed effective. 😐

So, I thoroughly examined the baby and had a small suspicion, leading me to order a chest X-ray. ◼️

The chest X-ray confirmed the diagnosis:
Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH)

Let me explain what CDH is.
Normally, the chest and stomach areas are separated by a muscle layer called the diaphragm. Sometimes, a baby is born with a defect in the diaphragm, such as a hole.

This defect allows the intestines to move up into the chest area, where the lungs should be.
In this child's case, the defect was on the left side, causing difficulty in breathing, especially during feeding times, and a persistent cough.

CDH cannot be cured by medicines, so we performed surgery to close the hole and place the intestines back in their correct position.

Once this was done, the lungs were able to expand and function properly. After one month, the baby came in for a follow-up and was doing really well.
