ROAD TO 400HP - Turbo Subaru BRZ/FRS/GT86 - Part 5 of 6 (Full Blown Walbro 485 Fuel Pump Install)

Fuel pump upgrade is another fuel upgraded needed when running high boost (10psi+) with ethanol. I strongly recommend the Full Blown Walbro 485 Fuel Pump install (not sponsored, lol). There is a lot of positive feedback in the community with this fuel pump and can't go wrong with choosing it. Like most of my fuel upgrades, they are overkill components, but it is better to have more legroom than maxing out smaller injectors or fuel pumps. Like always, reliability(engine wise) is also my priority, so choosing the best product for important components is always a must. Also a quick and easy install of the Verus fuel starvation door. Usually, at high loads of g fuel tend to cut off and come out the basket which is where this door would come in. It is a straight plug and plays which would help alleviate the starvation problem. ~~~Steps / Check List~~~
- Remove fuel pump fuse (for safety and just incase things)
- Remove 10mm bolt-on the rear driver seat and remove the seat
- Open fuel door to relieve fuel tank pressure
- Use a flat head screwdriver to take off the plate (note adhesive very sticky)
- Take of electrical connectors
- Take off the first black line
- Use a rubber mallet and flathead screwdriver to remove fuel pump reservoir cap
- Don't use any power tools, metal hammers, or anything that could cause sparks or else "gg" car or possibly life too
- Take off retaining clips by spring-loaded strut thingy
- Remove 3 clips holding it in place, unclip them at the same time
- Take it apart and remove two of the black and grey electrical connectors
- Take off 3-piece clip for more room to work on
- Remove the fuel filter from the bottom of fuel pump casing by unclipping 3 clips
- Use something to poke fuel pump-out
- Make sure to remove o-ring from the old fuel pump
- Place back the new fuel pump aligning the o-ring and make sure it sits nicely
- Cut the regulator clip from old fuel filter clip
- Install the regulator clip
- Use new aluminum fuel pump bracket, and tighten it with hex keys
- Place the new fuel filter that is supplied with the kit
- Install Verusstarvation door kit into place making sure it's facing the right direction
- Put the fuel pump things back in the basket
- Cut the old fuel pump connection to be installed onto the new fuel pump butt connectors
- The red wire goes with light blue, white black goes with grey
- Reconnect the wiring onto the fuel pump reservoir cap
- Remove the fuel tank cap rubber seal
- Install provided full-blown fuel pump kit spacer with o-ring (Use the best method possible since this is important
- Install the black rubber gasket back into the basket cap
- Reinstall the cap of the basket, compress and reinstall the c-clip
- Reinstall the gas basket back into the fuel tank using the reverse step of taking it out.
- Reinstall fuel pump fuse
- Tune car (if injectors were changed)
- Cross fingers and check for leaks/problems and hope there's none
- Enjoy them extra horses.
