2006年，聯合國發表了一項聲明：畜牧產業，已經成為造成全球環境問題前二或前三大最主要原因，其中，包含了在地小農和跨國公司皆是如此。研究報告指出我們必須要有更聚焦的政策改變，才有機會改善土壤劣化、氣候異常、空氣污染、水資源耗竭、水污染、以及物種多樣性的破壞等問題。

四年後，他們更提出嚴正警告，朝向純植物飲食是極度重要的轉變，如果我們想解決饑荒、燃料短缺與極端氣候變遷的嚴重問題！

那到底為什麼，動物產業對地球環境有這麼大的負面影響？

In 2006, the United Nations stated:

“The livestock sector emerges as one of the top two or three most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems, at every scale from local to global. The findings of this report suggest that it should be a major policy focus when dealing with problems of land degradation, climate change and air pollution, water shortage and water pollution, and loss of biodiversity.”

And then four years later, they warned that a global shift towards a vegan diet is vital to save the world from hunger, fuel poverty and the worst impacts of climate change.

So why exactly is animal farming bad for the environment?

VEGANISM是一種道德立場和生活方式。因為反對蓄意剝削知覺動物的行為，將這樣的立場落實在生活中，在務實的條件之下抵制來自動物剝削的產品與服務，包含食物 (肉類、牛奶、蛋製品與蜂蜜等)、服裝 (皮衣、皮鞋、羊毛、羽絨等)、娛樂 (動物園、馬戲團、海生館等)與經動物實驗的保養品或化妝品。透過拒絕消費而減少市場上的需求，進而削弱動物產業的供給動能，期望最終能達到解放動物的結果。
