Ultimates and Ultra Combos from Killer Instinct 2 by Rare/ Midway. At first I wanted to make a comparison videos between KI2 and KI Gold, but Gold looks terrible when I capture it from N64, or emulate it, so I didn't do it. In Killer Instinct 2, the main focus is still using long combos and breaking the opponent's combos. This time, the combo system has been changed. Most combo starters you did with a Back-Forward Kick/Punch have been changed into something more difficult. Combos aren't easily done by simple button mashing anymore (that's why I often use jump-in triple combos here, the easiest way), require "linkers" which are moves keeping a combo going, and an "ender", which is a strong move often sending the opponent flying in slow motion. The No Mercy state where you input a No Mercy (Fatality) was removed. Instead, each character has two Ultimates (except Orchid for some reason), done when the opponent's HP is low. One is like a regular attack and can be dodged or blocked, the other has to be done in a combo. Most stages have ring outs, and the final boss Gargos has to be defeated like that.
The N64 port, Killer Instinct Gold, was mostly the same game, except it had 3D modeled stages instead of pre-rendered, which looked kinda odd. The ring out animations were different, and Orchid got her second Ultimate. I noticed that the controls are kinda strange, because the N64 controller isn't good for beat em ups and lacks buttons, so the C-trigger is the attack buttons. On the other hand, combos are way easier to pull off it seems.

0:00 Fulgore (killer robot, now with a cooler model)
0:38 Glacius (ice based alien, now more of a grapple character and more buff looking)
1:25 Jago (ninja, throws his sword during his second Ultimate, a bit hard to see)
2:05 Kim Wu (girl with nunchucks... oh that's where MK5 Shang Tsung got his Fatality from)
2:46 Maya (tribal looking woman with utterly stupid finishers)
3:27 Orchid (woman with yellow rave sticks, somehow they forgot to add her second Ultimate)
3:58 Sabrewulf (werewolf, my favorite design of all versions, with artificial arms and large claws)
4:49 Spinal (skeleton warrior, absolutely iconic character)
5:33 TJ Combo (boxer, this time using a machine gun... like Jax in MK5 later... hm)
6:23 Tusk (basically, Conan the Barbarian except with dinosaurs. He's awesome.)
