01/26/2023 Bell Test (Simplex 4100/4100ES)

Another test of a location that I was eager to get on film. I tested this place last year, but last year's test was a failure as the upper three floors of this building (7 floors total) had no flashing strobes. Turns out the cause for that was a 4009 (NAC power supply) on the 6th floor that went bad. The week after we were there last year, Simplex came out and fixed the issue (along with various device description changes we recommended). Fast forward to this year and I'm checking things on floors 3, 2, and 1. This year all floors had functional signals, though we did come across a couple of signals that did not function (one of which can be seen at 1:31).

Background info: this building has a networked system consisting of a 4100 in the lobby (which houses the voice evacuation controls) and a 4100ES on the third floor. In addition, there's an 8-story parking garage that adjoins the main building, however that garage has its own system, which is a 4004, with Wheelock AS horn/strobes and Simplex 2099-9138 pulls. The 4004 is set up to trip the main building, however the main building does not trip the 4004. As far as the main building system goes, about 1/2 of the devices are wired to the 4100 and the other half are wired to the 4100ES. On that note, there are 30 smoke/CO combos throughout the building that are wired to the 4100ES, as they are not compatible with the 4100 (they will annunciate on the 4100, though the info displayed is somewhat limited). As far as the signals go, they're a mix of wall and ceiling mount TrueAlerts, plus the one 4903 speaker/strobe seen at the end. When the system activates, it does the brief 500hz tone, then plays the slow whoop tone. There is no voice message that plays and all the floors activate at once. As you can see there are a few areas I couldn't get into, but at least looking through the windows in the doors their signals looked functional. Hopefully next year we'll be able to get into those areas and verify those signals function completely.

P.S., don't mind the radio chatter.
