Bally Centaur II and Centaur are the same game, but in different cabinets. Can a Centaur2 become a Centaur? This video describes the cabinet conversion (see Part2 for the electrical conversion, link below.) Bally had an abundance of the "ugly" Rapid Fire cabinets, with no use for them. So they re-purposed those strange cabinets into Centaur 2 (and Eight Ball Deluxe LE) during 1982/1983, to use the abandoned Rapid Fire cabinets. Though Both Centaur and 8 Ball Deluxe came out in 1981, this re-issue of two very popular titles in 1982/1983 was met with disappointment, because of the different ("ugly") cabinet style. But with an afternoon of work and an old backbox, you can convert a Rapid Fire cabinet into a standard Bally cabinet!
