Ave verum corpus, natum de Maria Virgine,
Hail, true Body, born of the Virgin Mary,

vere passum, immolatum in cruce pro homine
having truly suffered, sacrificed on the cross for mankind,

cuius latus perforatum fluxit aqua et sanguine:
from whose pierced side water and blood flowed:

esto nobis praegustatum in mortis examine.
be for us a sweet foretaste in the trial of death!

O Jesu dulcis, O Jesu pie,
O sweet Jesus, O holy Jesus,

O Jesu, fili Mariae,
O Jesus, son of Mary,

miserere mei. Amen
have mercy on me. Amen.
