If you're not sure what to take pre-workout, this video is for you. Pre-workout supplements loaded with stimulants and bogus "proprietary" blends will no longer suffice. It's time to stop acting like a high schooler, let your balls drop, and start taking your pre/intra/post workout nutrition seriously.

In fact, your pre-workout nutrition may be exactly what's holding back from reaching your goals. So here's what you need do:

1) Ensure proper hydration and consume adequate sodium, potassium, and magnesium. Maintaining proper electrolyte balance is the single greatest performance enhancer that no one talks about and many overlook. Increasing your salt intake alone, can be life-changing for your workout performance.

2) Your Carbohydrate intake depends on your goals. If you want to lose fat, you most likely want to train carb depleted to force your body to burn fat for energy, but most importantly maintain a caloric deficit. If you want to build muscle, consume the majority of your carbs around your workout to ensure you have enough muscle glycogen.

3) The most important macronutrient: Protein
Make sure to consume adequate protein throughout the day to aid recovery and enhance muscle protein synthesis. While you can get adequate protein from real food sources, I still recommend supplementing with a quality protein supplement after training.
