PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION – This painting tutorial will take you through easy step-by-step instructions on how to draw and paint this dreamy and inspiring floral portraiture painting "BUDDHA BEAUTY” with acrylic paint. I’m a firm believer in Karma, and that you get out of life what you give. Your actions and behaviors dictate your destiny in the form of karma, good or bad, it comes in both forms. I truly feel that when you behave kindly, you earn good karma that will result in good things happening to you in the future. The same, of course, can be said when you choose to do bad things. Earning good karma is so easy and effortless that it should come natural to everyone. Listen, give a compliment, be honest, say thank you, offer forgiveness, smile, be positive, meditate, are just a few ways to not only be a good person but, to also earn good karma and live a more fruitful and rewarding life. And, the person behind this wise philosophy is Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism who later became known as “the Buddha”. You certainly do not have to be a practicing Buddhist to know and believe in one simple truth—it just feels good to do good things! And, when you feel good and exude positive energy, good things will happen! This is the essence of earning good karma, which the Buddha believed is the path to enlightenment and the spiritual journey toward nirvana. And for this, I give thanks to the Buddha for making my life more fulfilled. So, join me and learn to paint this easy Buddha portrait to honor the knowledge of this wise person, and perhaps, earn some good karma today. The first lesson you’ll learn in this beginner level painting tutorial is how to paint a solid background with a single color. In this case, black, which will add to the mystical mood and later allow for all the vibrant colors to pop off this canvas. After learning how to draw an outline of the female figure, her lotus flower necklace and decorative hat, you’ll apply a simple base coat to the Buddha’s face, headpiece and neckpiece, to work off of to create a metallic finish. Then you’ll use simple color mixing and painting techniques, such as a directional brushstroke, for blending the face for added depth and dimension creating contours and form to accentuate the facial features. You’ll then finish the face with added highlights and shadows to develop texture that will embody the realistic metal, iron, bronze or steel look, creating a 3-D photo effect like a statue or figurine. Moving on in this beginner acrylic painting lesson, you’ll use a one brushstroke technique to texture, dimension and form in the petals on the flower neckpiece. Just like the woman's face, you’ll use black and white to added highlight and shadow to make them jump off the canvas. This lotus flower painting method is so simple, you can easily paint any flower you want, whether it’s a rose, orchid, tulip, daisy or lupine. You’ll have confidence to change this painting into anything you want: add a sunset or sunrise over a horizon scenery painting, paint a moon or fantasy painting, add a garden with bamboo and water for a Zen feel. 4. #6 round brush – Paint 1st layer of facial features with black and rust
5. #6 round brush – Paint 1st layer of decorations on headpiece with rust and black
6. 3/4 inch bristle brush – Finish skin with white, yellow, brown, black and rust
7. #6 round brush – Finish face with gold (made in step 6), black, white, rust and gray (made in step 3)
