Want twisty ankles in Irish dance?

Many moves like twists, rocks, tips, and trebles require you to have twisty, or sometimes referred to as “loose”, ankles. To increase your ability for twisty ankles, we need to work two primary areas:
-ankle strength/stability
-ankle mobility
Start by working these two exercises.
-wall sit with ankle rotations - Position yourself into a wall sit. Rotate one ankle out and in while staying in the wall sit.
-ankle rotations with a resistance band - Lay on your back with a resistance band looped around one foot. Rotate ankle in full circle around each direction.
