This video deals with the important procedure of Staged flexor tendon grafting. We sometimes avoid doing this procedure as it is a staged procedure, and involves putting in a Silastic Rod, and the details of the procedure are not well understood. Instead, we do a single stage tendon grafting, where it may not be ideal, and end up with less than satisfactory results.
This video clears up all doubts about this procedure, the Hunter-Salisbury procedure, the Paneva-Holevich procedure and the modification. The use of the silastic rod, the different types of silastic rods that are available, the essential steps in the two stages of surgical procedures are explained with simple drawings for clarity.
