The perfect day trip out from Toyama: this scenic 762mm electric railway was built to service several hydro electric dams along one of the world's steepest V-shaped valleys. There are many hot spring Onsen along the route where you can alight and stay over or better still, overnight at one of several Onsen located just a one hour scenic walk from the railway terminus station of Keyakidaira.

For the fit & really brave or foolhardy, it is possible to follow the Korobe River upstream on foot over two days to reach Korobe High Dam then take the cable car & bus over the Tateyama Range back down to Toyama.
