White🎄Christmas indeed at The WHITE TEMPLE Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai, very north Thailand. Like Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, it is unfinished, it will take 90 years to build it and is continuously being built from 1998 on!! Chalermchai Kositpipat a local artist decided to design Worlds Most beautiful temple in his city and he totally succeeded 😱😍his vision is that the purity of Buddha should be white, and not Gold like all other Thailand temples. Chalermchai uses elements of modern culture to tell Buddhist stories, George Bush and Bin Laden are painted in the eye of the demon and the main temple hall that can’t be photographed has small Pikachu and Neo of Matrix and Doraemon and Superman, Batman, Hellraiser, Michael Jackson, Minions, Harry Potter, Darth Vader, Ultraman and many more integrated in the main painting! He is funding it himself and with donations but not from politicians and millionaires as he wants to keep his artistic freedom over this project!! The demons are left at the entrance as they stretch their hands out from underground. Many skulls have coins glued to their bones, much symbolism everywhere through the compound that is rather denominated as an exhibition of artworks rather than temple. The now 62 years old Thai Visual Artist Chalermchai is working for 14 years at this project that is always white and spotless clean, being renovated a couple of times every year.
