Helllooo everybody and come along for the ride as I take on the task of rebuilding the Colorado Rockies here on MLB The Show 24.

In this episode, we embark on the Year 2 Offseason following a step in the right direction this past season. Our Rockies improved their win total by nine games and finished just one game out of a Wildcard spot. Now their sights are set on continuing to build the foundation of the team and turn this club into a contender as we stay on the ascend.

Colorado Rockies Offseason "To Do" List:

1. Add ace to the rotation
2. Bolster bullpen
3. Sign traditional CF with leadoff ability
4. Upgrade backup catcher

With a clear plan of attack, we first dig into the starting pitchers on the market. 2024 NL Cy Young Award winner Zac Gallen headlines the market with Dylan Cease posing another immediate ace. The Rockies join the bidding war for one of those players, although the Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers are active participants as well. If Colorado were to miss out on Gallen and/or Cease, there are viable backup options such as Aaron Civale, Ranger Suarez, Framber Valdez, and Brandon Woodruff, among others.

Aside from pitching, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Kyle Tucker, and Bo Bichette are superstars available on the open market. The Blue Jays attempt to bring back both Vladdy and Bichette, although the former signs elsewhere. The Minnesota Twins lead the bidding for Guerrero Jr. most of the offseason until he decides to join a team down in Florida. As for Tucker, he signed a massive, 9-year, $210 million dollar deal with one of the MLB's most struggling teams over the past few seasons.

After formulating a plan for an ace and glossing over the top players in the free agency pool, we need to address center field. With no players in free agency filling the criteria we're looking for, we turn to the trade market. After drafting a handful of upper-class pitching prospects, Chase Dollander has become expendable as we include him as the centerpiece in a trade for a former All-Star from the Chicago White Sox. (SPOILER: Luis Robert Jr.)

In the next episode, we'll pick it up with Spring Training as we prep for the Year 3 season. It'll be our first look at new faces such as Robert Jr., Civale, and Senzel, along with the handful of relievers brought in. The Rockies enter the 2026 season with the highest expectations in quite some time. We need to clinch a playoff berth to keep pace with the rising expectations in this Rebuild Franchise and it all starts in the preseason!
