Score of Clara Wieck's 6 Lieder, Op. 13, published in 1844. Her first 10 opus are before her marriage with Robert Schumann, which were all piano pieces, but after they got engaged she began experimenting with other genres such as the lied. This set of lieder has introspective texts written by Geibel, Rückert and Heine that talk about death and the past in a particular way, where the gloomy topics seem to have a charming veil drawn over them (the only "fully happy" lied is "Ich hab' in deinem Auge"; the others have a pessimistic element). Clara uses the music to mirror this reality: a pleasant, serene piano accompaniment while the words speak about something more profound.
