Simon Rowland-Jones: Smile (for 3 violas)

Composer Simon Rowland-Jones says of this work:

"At the start of 2020 I was composing a large-scale work for chorus and orchestra. It was due to be performed in May. As the year progressed it quickly became clear that the premier would have to be delayed indefinitely, so to cheer myself up, and make myself smile, I wrote a piece for three violas.
I shared this with my friends and colleagues, Peter Mallinson and Matthias Wiesner, both members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra. They immediately came up with the idea of the three of us making a layered recording with each of us playing safely in our own homes.
We hope our combined efforts will make you smile, too!"
