Eric Coates (1886-1957) was a British composer and viola player most well-known for composing light music and The Dambusters March. He wrote First Meeting: Souvenir in 1941 for the great viola pioneer Lionel Tertis, with whom he had studied at London's Royal Academy of Music in 1906.

This performance was recorded during lockdown in May 2020 for the "VE75: A short musical tribute" video.
