Enter this tropical home with a swooped roof that hides a 3rd floor

Open House Design led by architect couple Quito and Jacy Medina believe in simplicity and straightforwardness when designing homes. They listen carefully to what their clients need and observe their lifestyle and personalities with hopes that these can be incorporated into the design of the house.

For Vinta House in Lio, El Nido, Palawan, the location has also played a large role in shaping the structure and its materiality. The house is clad in yakal wood and a dramatic swooped roof does more than sit pretty. It hides a third floor where utilities such as laundry and storage are tucked away. The roof's shape also loosely mirrors Mt. Cadlao which is visible from the 2nd floor's panoramic windows.

The house is just a 5 minute walk to Kalye Artisano, a community space in Lio where the owners work and is a 1 minute drive from the airport. The beach is also a stone's throw away.
