Tasting Wines From 2 Of The Most Legendary Wineries In Napa Valley!

Our tasting today is really special because we are visiting two iconic wineries that took first place in the world famous tasting competition called the Judgement of Paris.

The first winery is Clos Du Val. It is located on the Silverado Trail highway established in 1972. The tasting room is called Hirondelle House which is the French word for a sparrow bird. The walls are made from flattened old barrels and give the tasting room a very unique feel. The interior decor is stunning with many cozy places to sit and enjoy drinking wine.

We booked the Hirondelle House Tasting for $75 a person which includes a flight of 4 wines accompanied by a seasonal dip, fresh crudite and crackers. The light food paired very well with the vibrant and very aromatic 2022 Sauvignon Blanc.

The next day we went to Stags Leap Wine Cellars. It was raining, which is very typical during the month of January in Napa Valley. It was still gorgeous because the landscape was very green and the colors really popped. This is the low season which is great if you want a peaceful getaway without many tourists around.

Stags Leap Wine Cellars is the home of the Cabernet Sauvignon that beat out the top First Growth Bordeaux wines in 1976 and put Napa Valley on the map. We booked the Signature Wine Tasting experience for $95 a person which reserves a private table inside the Fay Outlook & Visitor Center with stunning views of the estate vineyards. The reservation includes a flight of 4 current release wines. Mark was our host for the day and shared some amazing stories. He even showed us the original TIME magazine that wrote about the Judgement of Paris. It was great to see a piece of history.
