The Taurus 942, 22 magnum revolver is available in matte stainless or in a blued version with either a 2" or 3" barrel. The really smooth double or single action revolver is made on the same frame as the 605, .38/.357 and is a solid little firerm that is great for recreational shooting and could be a good candidate for personal protection too.
