CX500 Mechanical seal / Camshaft modifications / Engine assembly how to EP7. The CX500 build continues with getting nearly all of the engine work done to both make sure it is ready for a long life ahead as well as making changes to allow for an electric fan conversion. I cut the end of the camshaft off before cleaning and polishing it. After I reinstall the camshaft I work on installing a new water pump mechanical seal before getting the rear cover back on the engine for good.

NOTE: This is an 82 engine where the seal is readily available. The 81 and older bikes have a 1mm smaller hole which either needs to be opened up to accept the newer seal or you can look into the "shep" method for replacing or resealing.
