In this video, you join me at Dawlish Warren, approximately 10 minutes south-west of Exeter St Davids. Throughout the video, you'll be seeing services from Great Western Railway and CrossCountry, with GB Railfreight making an appearance as well. A few minutes before I started filming this video, I watched the English Riviera Express pass by, over an hour early, courtesy of Locomotive Services Limited (a short will be coming soon, where I film the return journey). British Rail Class 57 (GB Railfreight)
Originally Built by Brush Traction, now part of Wabtec, and BREL as the Class 47 from 1962 to 1968
Rebuilt by Brush Traction, now part of Wabtec, from 1998 to 2004

Built by Electro-Motive Division, now Electro-Motive Diesel, from 1998 to 2008

Built by BREL from 1990 to 1992

British Rail Class 166 (Great Western Railway)

Built by Bombardier, now part of Alstom, in 2000 and 2001

British Rail Class 221 (CrossCountry)
Built by Bombardier, now part of Alstom, in 2001 and 2002

British Rail Class 800 (Great Western Railway)
Built by Hitachi Rail from 2014 to 2018
Class 800/0 built from 2014 to 2018
Class 800/3 built in 2017 and 2018

British Rail Class 802 (Great Western Railway)
Built by Hitachi Rail from 2017 to 2020
Class 802/0 and Class 802/1 built in 2017 and 2018

My next station will be South Kenton, on the West Coast Main Line, Lioness Line, and Bakerloo Line.

Trains that operate on the UK rail network are designated under the Total Operations Processing System, TOPS for short. The class of train can be determined by either the first two (locomotives, such as 66090, which would be a Class 66) or three numbers (multiple units, such as 221122, which would be a Class 221). Headcodes:
Train reporting numbers, headcodes for short, are used by railway signallers to determine where trains are on the network. Every train within a region has a specific four code ID, 1O10 for example. For trains travelling a long distance, the country is divided into areas based upon the old British Rail regions, with each one being assigned a letter (for example, the letter E has been assigned to the Eastern region, or the letter L being assigned to the Anglia region).
