SLAP Tears and Labrum Tears - Should You Get Shoulder Surgery?

When the shoulder is overused or there is trauma like a pitcher overusing their arm, a football hit, or a CrossFit injury, a SLAP tear or labrum tear is one of the most common shoulder joint injuries to happen.

Conventional medical doctors and orthopedic surgeons will often schedule surgery if a labrum tear is diagnosed by an arthrogram. In 2017, a study called "Sham surgery versus labral repair or biceps tenodesis for type II SLAP lesions of the shoulder: a three-armed randomised clinical trial"(https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28818...) found that "sham" surgeries, where no actual surgery was done, produced the same pain-relieving results as the surgery itself.

What should you do instead?
