Clive Holden s’intéresse à la représentation de la célébrité et de la renommée, aux conditionnements de notre regard par rapport à ce types d’images, et au regard de ses pairs photographes et cinéastes.

Avec sa projection centrale spécifiquement conçue pour les Jeux olympiques et paralympiques Paris 2024, l’exposition consiste en une installation numérique, vidéographique et photographique associant une commande inédite, « UNSUNG », ainsi que d’autres œuvres de l’artiste qui donnent un contexte conceptuel à la commande. L’artiste travaille à partir d’images d’archives liées à des Jeux olympiques et paralympiques passés. Les images spectaculaires de la gestuelle athlétique, le potentiel dramatique des visages, sont mis en scène, en boucle, mixés et transformés pour créer des rimes visuelles.

Clive Holden is interested in the representation of celebrity and fame, and what surrounds it, the conditioning of our gaze in relation to this type of images, and the gaze of his fellow photographers and filmmakers.

With its central screening specifically designed for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, the exhibition consists of a digital, video and photographic installation combining an original commission,”UNSUNG”, with other works by the artist that provide a broader conceptual context for the commission. The artist works with archive images from past Olympic and Paralympic Games. The spectacular images of athletic movement and the dramatic potential of the faces are staged, mixed, looped and transformed into visual rhymes.
