Описание к видео 1st RECORDING OF: So Rare - Carl Ravell Orch. (1937--Carl Ravell, vocal)

‘Carl Ravell’ was a recording pseudonym sometimes used by singer/bandleader Carl Ravazza, whose version of this familiar standard was the first one out of the gate. Other 1937 recordings of “So Rare” (Guy Lombardo and Gus Arnheim most notably) helped boost the song to the #1 position on the weekly “Your Hit Parade” radio survey. Of course, it was the 1957 Jimmy Dorsey hit which remains most familiar to succeeding generations (listen here:    • 1957 HITS ARCHIVE: So Rare - Jimmy Do...   )

The original 78rpm single was issued on various ARC labels - So Rare (Sharpe-Herst) by Carl Ravell (The Singing Maestro) & his Orchestra, vocal by Carl Ravell, recorded in NYC June 4, 1937
