Today is another improvement on our tropical farm. We will build a fence with our own hands that will enclose our hut. This fence will protect us from animals that might eat our plants. We start logging wooden poles. We have some good wood that we saved when we cleaned up the farm. We want to drill holes for the posts, but our power drill suddenly broke, so we decided to tackle the bamboo that we will use to make the fence. Darry taught us the technique of how to split the bamboo into equal pieces. It's much faster than using a machete. We went into town to find a repair shop for our power drill, but unfortunately they couldn't fix it. Boria fabricated a hand drill and we headed back to the farm. Some of the poles had already been set up by Darry without us. We gave him the hand drill to try it out. It works. After all the poles were installed, we started attaching the bamboo. First we drilled a hole in the bamboo before nailing it to the poles. The bamboo splits if you don't drill a hole for the nail beforehand. It took us two days to finish the fence. The next step is to install the gate. Boria and I are very happy, we can finally plant vegetables and flowers without worrying about goats and people coming into our yard.
