This slideshow walks you down both sides of the street from the corner of St. Laurent and Ste. Catherine during one afternoon in November, 1965. It uses photos taken from a catalogue of an exhibit held at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in 1966 called "Montréal, plus ou moins?/ plus or minus?" Melvin Charney organized the exhibit and took the photos. Louis Rastelli assembled them into this silent slideshow and added comments.
The entire west side of the street (from the Woolworth's building to the Monument Nationale) is set to be demolished to make way for a new Hydro-Québec office complex, putting an end to 200 years of that block being active at night.
