Lake District Walks | Walking the Wainwrights | High Rigg and Castlerigg Stone Circle

End of March 2024, on a bright spring morning, Neil tackles the sixth-smallest Wainwright, High Rigg, beside St John's in the Vale, via Tewet Tarn and Low Rigg, returning via the epic Castlerigg Stone Circle.

It's a 6.5 mile circular route, of around 1,250 ft ascent and descent, with spectacular views of Blencathra, Skiddaw, Helvellyn and Bleaberry Fell. On the way, he makes friends with ponies, and considers the legend of uncountable stones.
