Cosmetic patient attraction has evolved throughout the years.

Surgeons used to be able to rest on their academic achievement and other specialties would refer their patients to them.

Then came PR.

Then, SEO.

Then, Website redesigns.

And now, social media.

The point being to stay relevant, you must change with the times.

This week's video is an interview I did with Steven J. Pearlman, MD, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon in private practice on the upper East Side of Manhattan for over 34 years, with a focus on facial rejuvenation, rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty.

We talked about:

His journey from academia, to private practice, to Park Avenue in New York City

His experience with training fellows and having them join his practice...and then leaving

Why he added non-surgical procedures to his menu of services and his marketing plan for keeping his non-physician extenders busy, and

His flair for fashion! He is one of the best dressed surgeons at the medical conferences (with no help from his wife).
