Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the country's East Shield initiative, aimed at fortifying defense lines on its borders with Belarus and Russia, is moving forward at full speed. Tusk, along with Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, watched a series of military exercises, showcasing the components of the Shield East systems at the Orzysz training ground. According to the plan, the construction of the fortification elements of East Shield was supposed to start in 2025, but the activities have been accelerated to kick off this year. In late May this year, Poland allocated €2.33 bln to the East Shield multi-year defense and deterrence plan for 2024–2028 to secure its northeastern border with appropriate fortifications. Poland decided to launch its new defense program amid hybrid attacks from Belarus and Russia's war in Ukraine. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have agreed to build what they call the Baltic Defence Line due to similar concerns. Both projects are to be integrated. Jacek Raubo, the director of Defence24 joined TVP World to discuss the project.
