Standardbred Shoeing In Pennsylvania

Dan Burke of FPD recently met with Eli Beiler from Gap, PA at the Anatolia Farm Standardbred training center near New Holland. Eli has been shoeing for over 40 years, having learned from his father who at 89 just recently announced he was finally going to quit shoeing! Eli was shoeing a 4yr. old pacer with Royal Kerckhaert Horseshoe Factory's full swedge fronts and half-round/half swedge hinds, a typical combination for his pacer work. This video shows his steady hand at work applying a fine bead of 1/8" Borium to the toe on the hind shoes, a non-aggressive traction and wear application.
