Untold stories of Royal coffins at a hidden gem museum - I was shocked!

Описание к видео Untold stories of Royal coffins at a hidden gem museum - I was shocked!

In this weeks video I visit THREE places .. one that was meant to be the star .. and two "Lucy bonuses" because I get carried away and love taking you around so much.

This week I am in Birmingham at Newman Coffin Factory. A time capsule factory as if the lights were turned out and everyone left and now we can enter. Newmans Coffin Works on Fleet Street, Birmingham, made coffin fittings for over 100 years, including coffin fittings for the "great and good" .. Sir Winston Churchill, The Queen Mother and Princess Diana to name a few. I had been nervous to visit this museum as I was concerned it would be macabre or upsetting, but actually it was an interesting, uplifting experience where I learnt plenty of new things and enjoyed it - and this shocked me! I was honestly dreading this visit - silly huh?

Because I was in the area I take you J.W Evans Silver Factory on Albion Street in Birminghams Jewellery Quarter. This place is a time capsule of industrial life in Birmingham in the 19th and 20th Century. A family business that made it "big" it's a tale of dogged determination and risk taking.

Finally - because why not? I take you somewhere I have wanted to show you for the longest time. St. Lazar, Serbian Orthodox Church in Bournville, Birmingham is the first church of it's kind in the UK and was open for a rare open day. It is a beautiful example of 14th Century Byzantine fresco reproductions, a rich community and a warming tale.

Three pieces of social history all intertwined with stories of the people of Birmingham.

Thanks as always for coming along with me, if you like my videos please do give me a thumbs up or a subscribe, it really encourages me to get better, explore further and "keep going". To my subscribers as always thank you for being here and for your support.
