Tourism and Transport Forum Chief Executive Margy Osmond has described the Rail, Tram and Bus Union’s planned industrial action in NSW as a “tragic situation” for hospitality and tourism operators.

This comes as there’s expected to be a shortage of more than 200 train drivers on New Year’s Eve due to industrial bans, which means potentially hundreds of services could be cancelled or delayed.

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb has shared her concerns about the planned industrial action on New Year’s Eve and left open the prospect of cancelling the fireworks.

“I think the real issue here is the uncertainty around it – nobody knows what the heck is going on,” Ms Osmond told Sky News Australia.
