Collins KWS 1 Final Test Video

This video provides a brief demo of the KWS-1 operating into a dummy load after full alignment and neutralizing of the RF circuits. With careful tuning of the PA stage, it is possible to obtain between 600 and 700 Watts output with 1KW input power on all bands except 15M and the upper 10M band, where an output power level of between 400 and 500 Watts due to lack of drive, most likely a result of low HF oscillator crystal activity level due to age and/or the need to 'pull' the crystals to the correct frequencies with series trimmer capacitors (replacement crystals should correct this). Prior to this video, I had checked operation of the ALC and VOX circuits on SSB operation and found optimal settings for these.
