The Shared Futures project: using Participatory Video Most Significant Change to Track Impact

Описание к видео The Shared Futures project: using Participatory Video Most Significant Change to Track Impact

The Shared Futures project aims to strengthen the ability of youth and religious communities to address causes of interfaith violence and promote sustainable peace and reconciliation in the coastal counties of Mombasa, Kwale and Tana River in Kenya.

Kerk in Actie, Cordaid, local partners and other organisations had already used Most Significant Change (MSC) as a Monitoring and Evaluation tool. InsightShare provided expertise in Participatory Video and helped incorporate PV and MSC together to capture the changes and results of the Shared Futures project. In this way, the films were created collectively by the participants and in a participatory manner to capture their stories of change.

This video report outlines the training process and describes who participated in the project. The main goal was to equip the 12 participants with skills for them to share these with their communities and document stories of change.

The project helped the organisations, local partners and project participants determine the challenges that young people were facing in the community, among them unemployment, mental health struggles and parenting issues.

The role of Participatory Video (PV) helped the facilitators define ‘points of action’, including access to psycho-social support, gaining business skills, and helping the participants improve their self-acceptance and life skills.

InsightShare is a community development organisation committed to improving and shaping the use of Participatory Video in all its forms.
