This is one of my favorite basslines from Paul! It’s got so much melody and the bassline is one of the most tasteful lines I’ve played. The bassline is laidback but there are also some fast 16th licks in this song.

Of course there’s this fantastic melodic lick in the verse, where he slides towards the high E (bars 7; 16 and 43). And in bar 43 he slides (extra) on 32th notes. Really great!

And I really like the way he plays the 16th notes in the bar with G7 – Am7 – G7/B (bars 6;15 and 33). He sometimes choses to slide before the beat and something slide on the beat. Really nice.

Also the way he approaches the Bridge in bar 19 is really beautiful. He plays 16th notes in a beautiful way. And he does more or less the same when he approaches the last chords of the song in bar 46. I really like that he doesn’t play a D note on the third beat of this bar, but stays on the C# (C sharp) and then goes to the D.

Also in the bridge there are beautiful repeated notes. While the chords shift in bar 20 and 21 he keeps playing the e-f#-e notes on the second and fourth beat on these bars. Simple but beautiful (and typical Paul McCartney I think).

And there are a lot more slides; staccato (short) and pull off notes in this song for you to explore.

Enjoy this beautiful bassline!
