Today, we have 6 hearings in an emergency minor guardianship after a 17-year-old girl
and her Grandmother petition the court to allow her to stay with her Grandparents due
to her Mother’s poor choices which have led to an unstable home life that is affecting
her mental health. Also, they have just moved in with Mom’s new boyfriend and she
doesn’t like how much her Mom’s new relationship reminds her of the past partners who
committed DV.


She wants to live with Grandma until she turns 18 in 6 months.


Mom says this whole thing is ridiculous and the only reason her daughter wants to go
live with Grandma is to avoid being punished. Mom says her children are addicted to
technology and her daughter is just rebelling against having her cell phone taken away.
