Gjirokastër is a city in southern Albania, in a valley between the Gjerë mountains and the Drino, at 300 metres above sea level. Its old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, described as "a rare example of a well-preserved Ottoman town, built by farmers of large estate".

Bënjë waters are located only 13 km away from the center of Përmet. They have a high sulfur content, flow open in nature and are usually used with a doctor's recommendation, but dipping in them certainly does not harm you. Mineral waters are very close to each other. Two of the largest, at the start of the Katie Bridge, are said to do well for stomach upsets and rheumatic diseases.
