Delft (2024) is a historic and a popular tourist city in the province of South Holland, The Netherlands. The city has also a very lively university community as the campus of the technological university is located here. The city is famous for its 'Delft's Blue' pottery. Delft already acquired its official city rights in the Middle Ages. Famous Renaissance Painter Jan Vermeer was born here. Some highlights of the city are the medieval centre with the canals, Old Church, the New Church (Nieuwe Kerk), the city hall, Gunpowder Store House (Kruithuis) and the Eastern Gate. Delft has a population of 105,000.
