April 12 1998

Veterans Sam Perkins and Jerome Kersey combine for 20 points off the Seattle Sonics bench, contributing to a home victory over the Houston Rockets. Perkins, 36 years old at the time, had a prosperous and successful second life in the NBA as one of the original stretch bigs, lasting until age 39 in the NBA. Kersey, age 35, once a high flyer for the Portland Trail Blazers high-octane offense that challenged the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls in the NBA Finals, was beginning to slow down in his NBA career but was a contributing bench piece until his final season in Milwaukee in 2001. The two veterans combined made 9 field goals totaling 20 points, with Perkins draining 2 3's.

Rest in peace, Jerome Kersey. The video of Terry Porter breaking down about his passing shows the positive effect he held in NBA locker rooms.
