The Rh antigen is present in rhesus monkeys also. The Rh antigen is discovered by Landsteiner & Weiner.

The genetic locus of Rh antigen is present on the short arm of chromosome no 1.

There are 5 major Rh antigens - C,c,E,e,D

The fetus will be Rh positive or negative it all depends on the genotype of the father.

A homozygous father will have all fetuses positive and heterozygous will have 50% positive or 50% negative.

If both the parents are Rh negative then no incompatibility arises, as the fetus will also be Rh negative.

If the father has negative and the mother has Rh positive group then also the fetus will not be affected.
