In this video, DIYNate shows how he replaces his cabin air filter in his Volvo XC90 (2013) and the steps to completing the process. First, finding the correct sized filter is important. DIYNate's first attempt to purchase the correct filter from Amazon resulted in an incorrect size (so be careful when ordering - sizes can sometimes be incorrect). He purchased his from Autozone (STP brand - CAF1739), however, he also shares a link to Amazon (https://amzn.to/35nDQA8) to find a cabin air filter that will fit your Volvo or other car. Do make sure to check the vehicle fit as sizing and specific vehicle models can vary significantly (customer comments can also be helpful to see if the filter is a good fit for your vehicle).

The most challenging part of the change involves taking off the cabin housing's plastic cover that are secured by four torx screws. The back two are challenging to get to, unless you have a flat ratchet or small screwdriver with a torx attachment. This made what should have been an easy project a challenge. The angle of the screws were also difficult to get a visual on; however with the right tools, it probably would have been easier.

Inserting the filter with the air flow going toward the engine area will also ensure your filter is performing correctly. The final step is reattaching the cover and reattaching the plastic trim.
