Developing a Dugout Routine

Описание к видео Developing a Dugout Routine

It’s always interesting to me to see the views in a video and see what you guys like watching. I was SHOCKED that this video didn’t get more views from you guys, because it’s a topic that I don’t think a lot of people talk about.

Get into the nitty gritty of pitching with your daughter - don’t be scared.

What is she doing in between innings when your team is hitting? Seriously. Is it helping her and making her better during the game? If the answer is no, then that’s the only way it could be the wrong wrongs thing to do.

The time inside the dugout, while your team is hitting, should be used for more than just a physical break from your time pitching! In the dugout is the best time to COMMUNICATE with your pitch caller and your catcher!

As a pitching unit for your team, you should be paying attention to and communicating the following things:

1) What pitch is working best THAT day?

2) Adjustments that need to be made with your rhythm
- mechanical adjustments for your different pitches
- location adjustments (especially important to have honest conversations with your catcher)

3) Who is coming up next inning? What did those hitters do the last time you faced them? How should you attack them next?

4) Are you attacking the zone? Are you getting ahead and throwing strikes early in the count? If not, what needs to change so that can happen?

Use the dugout time wisely! Do not just think of it solely as a physical break. When you are pitching in a game, it is a FULL TIME job and commitment to be your best for your team, and that includes taking advantage of down moments to mentally prepare for the next inning!
