Ingredients:

Moong Dal or Toor Dal - 1/4 Cup (After Cooking 1/2 Cup)
Tomato - 1
Curry Leaves - 8-10
Green Chillies - 2-3
Ginger - 1 inch
Salt
Jaggery - 1/4 tsp
Coconut Milk - 1/2 Cup
Coriander Leaves - 2-3 Tbsp
Lemon Juice - 1 tsp

Seasoning Ingredients:

Ghee - 1 Tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Hing / Asafoetida - 5-6 pinch
Red Chilli - 1


Method:

1. Cook 1/4 Cup Toor Dal in a pressure cooker for 4 whistles or until soft.

2. Once the Dal cools completely add it to a mixer jar and make a smooth paste and keep aside.

3. Add 1 chopped Tomato to a vessel.

4. Add 1 Cup of Water and mix.

5. Add 8-10 Curry Leaves.

6. I added 2-3 slit Green Chillies.

7. Add finely chopped 1 inch Ginger and mix well with the help of a ladle.

8. Cook the Tomato in medium flame.

9. Once the Tomato turns soft, add the Moong Dal paste.

10. Mix everything well and add enough water required for your preferred consistency of the Rasam.

11. Mix everything well and allow the Rasam to boil.

12. Add Salt as per taste.

13. Add 1/4 tsp Jaggery and mix once and allow it to boil.

14. Add 1/2 Cup Coconut Milk.

15. Keep mixing the Rasam and allow it to boil for 10 minutes in medium flame.

16. Add 2-3 Tbsp Coriander Leaves and mix once.

17. Mix well and allow to boil for 3-4 minutes and then switch off the flame.

18. Seasoning: Add 1 Tbsp Ghee to a small frying pan.

19. Once Ghee melts, add 1 tsp Mustard seeds.

20. Once Mustard Seeds splutter 1 tsp Cumin Seeds.

21. Add 5-6 pinches of Hing/Asafoetida.

22. Add 1 broken Red Chilli and fry them.

23. Once the Red Chilli changes its color, add this seasoning immediately to the Lemon Rasam and mix well.

24. Add 1 tsp Lemon Juice and mix well.

25. Now hot Lemon Rasam using Moong Dal is ready to serve. Quality cooking wares that I love and recommend. Many of these I use every day in my kitchen and in the videos as well. Thank you.
