Shrikant Jichkar (1954-2004) was a remarkable Indian polymath, often regarded as one of the most educated persons in India. Born in a small village in Maharashtra, he pursued an astonishing array of academic qualifications, earning over 20 degrees in various fields, including medicine, law, arts, commerce, sociology, and journalism. He was also a prolific civil service officer, clearing the prestigious Indian Civil Services examination in 1978.

Despite his numerous academic achievements, Jichkar's interests were not confined to education. He ventured into politics and became the youngest Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly at the age of 26. Over his political career, he held various ministerial positions in Maharashtra, contributing to the state's governance in education, health, finance, and rural development.

Jichkar was known for his intellectual curiosity and dedication to public service. His multifaceted career was cut short when he tragically died in a car accident in 2004. Despite his early death, Jichkar left a lasting legacy as an extraordinary individual who combined his vast knowledge with a commitment to improving society through public service.
