For this winter flight I had planned a visit to Texel Wadden Island, via a low approach at EHTX, to make it back in time before the UDP ending. In the meteo reports it was forcasted that a cold front would be approaching from the North Sea with potential hazardous ice pellets and a leading airmass with undercooled moisture, which would arrive later than my planned ETA. However, upon arriving at the corridor near Den Helder, I could see that the cold front was already above Texel. In order to avoid any risks I decided to adapt my plan on-the-fly and continue over the Norh-Holland province instead. I finished the flight with two circuits only moments before actual sunset. You do not often get to fly in semi-dark conditions and get to see the runway lights (or aircraft/cockpit lights for that matter) so clearly. For me, this was a beautiful and humbling sight!
