2020年10月中旬。日本海能登半島ではアオリイカの新子が釣れるシーズン。
アオリイカの魚影が濃いこの地域では昔から生き餌としてイカが使われてきた。
今回はそんなアオリイカをエギングで釣り上げ、泳がせ釣りの生き餌として使用する。
まずは堤防前でティップランエギングを行う。順調にアオリイカを釣り上げる。今年はアオリイカが渋くあまり数が釣れないので少々苦戦した。
その後天候を鑑みて港からほど近い浅めの岩場、砂地、漁礁を順に攻めることに。
まずは岩場にアオリイカを落としてみる。
岩場にはイシダイやメジナが群れており、メジナの大群がカメラに映る。そのあとアオリイカに近づく魚が！キジハタがアオリイカに食いつくが離してしまった。
その後砂地にアオリイカを泳がせてみるとアオハタが食いついた！アオハタらしく獰猛に餌を捕食する。一度噛み付いたアオリイカをなかなか離そうとせず、ずっとかみ続けている。
しかし結局針がかりせず。
最後に漁礁にアオリイカを泳がせてみる。するとキジハタが早速近づいてきた。どんどんアオリイカに接近する。墨を吐いて警戒するアオリイカ。しかしキジハタがすきを見て食いつく。アオリイカを丸飲みにした。
うまくフッキングし、無事キジハタを釣り上げた。

From last time.
Mid-October 2020. In the Noto Peninsula of the Sea of Japan, this is the season to catch the newborns of the Japanese cuttlefish.
Squid has been used as live bait for a long time in this area where the shadow of squid is strong.
This time we caught them by eging and used them as live bait for swimming fishing.
At first we did tip-run eging in front of the bank. We fished smoothly. We had a hard time catching squid this year because they were reluctant to do so.
Considering the weather conditions, we decided to attack shallow rocky areas, sandy areas, and fishing reefs near the harbor in order.
At first, we dropped bigfin reefs on the rocks.
The rocky area was swarming with threadfin breams and red snapper, and a large school of them appeared on the camera. After that, a fish came close to the squid! The grouper bit into the bluefin grouper, but I let it go.
Then I let the blue grouper swim in the sand and it bit! It preys ferociously on food, just like a blue grouper. Once bitten, it wouldn't let go and kept on biting.
However, it didn't let go of the hook after all.
Finally, I let the squid swim to the reef. Then the grouper came nearer and nearer. It was getting closer and closer to the grouper. The bigfin reef squid was spitting out black ink. But the grouper saw his chance and bit him. He swallowed the big squid.
I hooked it well and caught a kijimoto grouper safely.
