Chesterfield Canal Restoration - Episode 2 - Staveley Waterside, Staveley Town Lock, Basin & Bridge

In this video we look at the latest updates surrounding Staveley in Derbyshire. Staveley is the end of the restored western section of the canal (5 miles between Chesterfield and Staveley).

I take a look at the newly finishing bridge 12a at the Staveley Town Lock near Staveley Town Basin.
The news about the Staveley Waterside plans on the canal basin including business, shops and a cafe.

Also breaking is the news from the Staveley Town Deal of the £5.3m funding secured to extend the canal half a mile onto the Staveley Puddlebank in the Doe Lea Valley.

Update from Chesterfield Canal Trust:
The Chesterfield Canal Trust is delighted to have been awarded £5.3m from the Staveley Town Deal.
This means that over the next three years the canal will be extended by half a mile from Hartington Harbour onto the Staveley Puddlebank which runs across the Doe Lea valley. There will also be two miles of multi-use towpath all the way to Renishaw. There will be a new lock and two new bridges. There will be a siphon pipe to take the water from Staveley Waterside (the new name for Staveley Town Basin) to the new canal section. In addition, full designs will be prepared for further work.
